Symphony Saturdays
Symphony Saturday’s, a children’s
education project of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra Guild,
is again offering its program in Hagerstown.
In this four-week program, children
in grades 1-3 will hear Maryland Symphony Orchestra musicians
explain and play their instruments. Each week, children will
have the opportunity to try playing some instruments from
one of the families in the orchestra (strings, brass, woodwinds,
and percussion). This year, the guild will be having three
parent child sessions.
The
program will take place at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran
Church, 141 South Potomac Street, Hagerstown. Children will
learn some basic musical concepts and have fun as they experience
the joy of music.
Dates:
February 9- Woodwinds
February 16- Percussion
February 23 - Strings
March 1 - Brass
Parent Child Sessions:
A: 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
B: 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
C: 11:30 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Location:
The February 16th session (percussion) will be held on stage
at the Maryland Theatre. All other sessions will be held at
the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Parking
is conveniently available on the south side of the church
property.
Cost:
* Children $20 for the four Saturdays, participating parents
$10 for the four Saturdays. Payable with registration. Please
make checks payable to MSO Guild. Symphony Saturday t-shirts
may be purchased for an additional $7.00.
Included:
Each enrolled parent student team will receive two complimentary
tickets to the Maryland Symphony Orchestra’s Family
Concert on Sunday March 9, 2008. Theme “Beethoven Lives
Upstairs”
Registration will be offered
soon for the 2009 year.
